After much reluctance, Dana White seems to have finally surrendered to the exceptional moment experienced by Vitor belfort. After having denied successive requests from Belfort to be the next name in the fight for the middleweight belt, the director recognized that this is the natural path of the 84 kg division and that the popular appeal for a chance for the Brazilian is great. In an interview with the North American program “Metro South Morning Show”, White stated that it is everyone's desire for the “Phenomenon” to face the winner of the rematch between Anderson Silva e Chris Weidman.

“In Saturday’s fight, if Chris Weidman win or Anderson Silva win, the next big fight everyone wants to see is Vitor belfort (against the winner of Anderson vs Weidman). That’s what everyone wants to see”, said the leader. White cited the situation of the middleweight belt after the rematch between Anderson and Weidman, and consequently a future challenge from Belfort, to highlight the difficulties in holding a superfight between Spider and boxer Roy Jones Jr.

PUBLICITY:

2013 was an impeccable year for the prospects of the Vitor belfort. The veteran presented an enviable form and knocked out the three opponents he faced: Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold e Dan Henderson, the latter had never suffered a knockout in his entire career. Now, on December 28th, the “Phenomenon” follows the rematch between Anderson Silva e Chris Weidman and awaits who will probably be his next opponent. The duel is the main fight of UFC 168, which takes place in Las Vegas (USA).
