One of the oldest fighters still active in MMA, Melvin Manhoef recognized that the duel against Yoel romero at Bellator 285, it could be his last fight as a professional athlete. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', before next Friday's show (23), the veteran said that this is the last fight of his current contract with the organization and acknowledged that he must hang up his gloves after the bell rings.

“This is the last fight of the Bellator contract. And yes, if this fight ends, then yes, I think I will give up, because I am 46 years old and I think it is also time for the next generation. It's a pain to have to stop, but yes, it is what it is. There is a time to come, and there is a time to go. I’ve been doing this for 28 or 29 years,” Manhoef said.
Melvin made his debut as a professional MMA player in 1995, however, it was only in 1999 that he "engaged" in the sport once and for all, always alternating with appearances in kickboxing. The veteran has played in major events with DREAM, Strikeforce, ONE FC, Glory and Bellator. The Suriname-born fighter has an extensive record of 32 wins, 15 losses and one no-contest.
