Insistence seems to have been the best weapon to Tyron woodley get a fight against Carlos Condit. A few weeks ago, the welterweight had repeatedly asked Ultimate to face the former interim champion, who had been without an opponent since Matt Brown's injury. President Dana White even ruled out, in a press conference after UFC on FOX 9 last Saturday (14), the promotion of the fight, but this Tuesday (17) the organization announced that Woodley and Condit will face each other at UFC 171 .

According to Dana White, Woodley literally sent more than 15 messages a day asking to fight Condit. The persistence of “T-Wood”, as he is known, does not appear to be unwarranted. After all, after the voluntary removal of Georges St Pierre, and the consequent vacancy of the belt in the 77 kg category, the confrontation between him and Carlos Condit, which takes place in the same event as the title fight between John hendricks e Robbie Lawler, became a qualifier for the position of next challenger.

PUBLICITY:

UFC 171 takes place on March 15, 2014, at American Airlines Center, in Dallas (USA). The main fight of the event would be a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones e Glover Teixeira. However, the fight ended up being postponed and the duel for the vacant welterweight belt between John hendricks e Robbie Lawler took his place. Although there is no official confirmation from Ultimate, the confrontation between Tyron woodley e Carlos Condit should be the co-main fight of the night.
