Just over a week after officially announcing her retirement, confirmed with the defeat against the Brazilian Beth Pitbull at UFC Fight Night 33, Julie Kedzie was confirmed with the new matchmakers of the Invicta FC women's event. Thus, Kedzie will be responsible for matching the organization's fights, a role performed by Joe Silva in Ultimate. The information was confirmed by the former fighter herself in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.
“I am very happy to announce that I have spoken with Shannon Knapp (president of the organization) and I am now the youngest matchmakers from Invicta FC. I will take on the role of matchmakers of the company, work with the aim of helping to develop the careers of other fighters. Bringing them into the sport, giving them the attention they deserve and, hopefully, promoting the sport a little more on the outside now, having a role where I can help people. Face to face, give them what they need,” said Kedzie. “I'm really excited about it. A little scared, but quite excited”, she added.
At 32 years old, Kedzie ended his career with a record of 16 wins and 13 losses. The North American already works as a commentator at Invicta FC events and believes that the new position only adds to her work. “You will have the commentator and the matchmakers there saying why this happened. So, I think I'll be able to give people a greater insight into the workings of the business as audience members, and they'll be able to see why the fights are married the way they are,” she concluded.
