Last Monday (05), Paulo borrachinha e Khamzat Shimaev were involved in a riot at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. In an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”, Jake Shields, a former Ultimate fighter, who was practicing jiu-jitsu with the Brazilian at the time of the fight, reported what happened.
According to a Jake Shields, trainer Nate diaz, Chimaev's rival in UFC 279, next Saturday (10), he and Borrachinha were working on some techniques when Chimaev appeared to talk to the Brazilian.

“I was there this morning training with Paulo Costa, working on some techniques and, out of nowhere, Khamzat (Chimaev) started shouting at us and swearing at Paulo, challenging him to fight. We looked at him and he was with ten guys. Paulo went over there and started talking. I went after Paulo, because I didn't know if they would try to attack him, right? I didn’t recognize some of the guys,” Shields explained.
According to the coach, the fact that Chimaev called Borrachinha into the fight was nothing more than an act by the Swedish naturalized Chechen for the cameras. The North American took the opportunity to mock his pupil's rival.
“He continued to call Paulo into the fight, but he said this while going downstairs. It seemed more like an act for the cameras than anything else. Someone said after that he had already been watching our training for ten minutes. If he wanted to fight, he would have run there and attacked Paulo, not stood outside the cage screaming. It felt like a weakness. He was upset because Paulo called him a 'fake gangster,' but that was the perfect example of him being a fake gangster,” he concluded.
