Hector Lombard considers that his next ideal opponent in the UFC would be Jake Shields. Since joining the North American organization, the Cuban has gone through moments of ups and downs, alternating victories and defeats.

In his last fight, Lombard knocked out Nate Marquardt at the beginning of the first round. Shields, on the other hand, is going through a more positive streak, as he hasn't known what it's like to lose since September 2011. The North American is coming off a victory over Demian Maia in Barueri.

In an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, Lombard was eager for a possible fight with Shields. “I think the only fight that makes sense to me at the moment is Jake Shields. He has no fight scheduled and has beaten his last opponents. It would be a great test for me,” he said.

However, Lombard criticized his potential opponent's fighting style. “I think he has been very boring and I always try to get the knockout. It would be very exciting. Either he'll make the fight boring or I'll knock him out. It would be one or the other,” he commented.
