Scott Jorgensen was short without an opponent for UFC on Fox 9, which will take place on December 14th. After seeing his initial opponent, Ian McCall, and his replacement, John Dodson, withdrew from the fight due to injury, now it's Zach Makovsky's turn to be selected for the event.
Makovsky will make his UFC debut after having a relevant stint in Bellator, where he won the bantamweight belt. However, after two consecutive defeats, including losing the title to Eduardo Dantas, the American was cut from the event.
Thus, Makovsky decided to move down to the flyweight division and take a new direction in his career. In the new weight category, he won two victories and secured his entry into the UFC.
This will be the debut of Jorgensen, former challenger of Dominick Cruz for hegemony in the bantamweight division (at the time, in the WEC), in the flyweight category. The main fight of the night will be the title fight in this category, between Demetrious Johnson, the champion, and Joseph Benavidez, the challenger.
