With strategic performance, Marcos Breno defeats Josh Hill on the preliminary card of Bellator 284

Debuting in the organization, the Brazilian fighter won easily, number nine in the bantamweight division.

Brazilian Marcos Breno had a good debut in the Bellator 284, which took place on Friday night (12). Against the ninth placed bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) Josh Hill, the Tupiniquim athlete had a strategic performance and won easily in the unanimous decision of the judges. The show took place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (USA).

With three consecutive victories in his career, Marcos consolidates the good moment he has had in his career. Debuting in Bellator, the Brazilian athlete now has a record of 15 triumphs and two setbacks in the sport.

On the other hand, Josh Hill sees his dream of getting closer to the division's elite being put on hold, at least momentarily. The Canadian has a record of 21 positive results and five negative results as an MMA professional.

The fight

Breno and Josh started exchanging low kicks in the center of the ring. The Brazilian cornered his rival and punished him with good combinations. Breno continued to dominate the center of the cage and land heavy blows on Hill, who soon had a bloody nose. Josh couldn't escape Breno's desire to surround him in the ring and he also couldn't find the time for his counterattacks. In the final seconds, the Brazilian tried a high kick, but was stopped by his rival, who responded with a cross.

Hill started the second round trying to be more aggressive and without letting Breno dominate the center of the cage. In the second half of the round, Breno once again controlled the distance, however, without the same good percentage of strikes landed, which forced him to put his rival down. On top of Josh, Marcos tries to strike with ground and pound, but the Canadian tried to stop him with his right arm. Even without much force, the Brazilian athlete managed to stop his rival on the ground, until the end of the session.

The two athletes went for a frank exchange in the last part of the fight, Hill changed bases all the time, trying to find the best time to strike the Brazilian. Josh tried to land a cross on the Brazilian, but received a beautiful upper in response, after letting his guard down. In the final minute, Breno tried to put his opponent down, but Joshh made a good save and fell over the Brazilian. With the guard passed, Hill tried to hit the Brazilian in the waist line. The two athletes quickly got to their feet and ended the fight exchanging blows in the center of the cage.

In a duel that was worth a place in the top-5 of the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), DeAnna Bennett and Justine Kish delivered a lively duel, with a lot of frank striking for 15 minutes. At the end of the clash, the North American emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision and can establish her foot among the category's elite in the next ranking update.

With her third consecutive victory, DeAnna Bennett consolidates her good career momentum and now has a record of 13 wins, seven setbacks and one draw. Russian Justine Kish suffers her fourth setback in her last five matches and now has eight positive results and six negative results in the sport.
