UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy criticized UFC's head coach Georges St Pierre, Firas Zahabi, for making his fighters act in an excessively bureaucratic manner in their last fights.
The current welterweight champion has not won a fight without a judge's decision since January 2009, against B.J. Penn. Another Zahabi athlete, Rory McDonald has also been accused of not being aggressive enough, especially after his actions against Jake ellenberger e Robbie Lawler.
In an interview with the North American website MMA Mania, Kennedy compared Zahabi with the Canadian's former trainer, Greg Jackson (Kennedy's current coach), who was also criticized for making St. Pierre lose his aggression. “If you look at the last ten fights, the fighters who have won submission of the night, knockout of the night or fight of the night awards, the bonuses are almost exclusive to Jackson's fighters,” he pointed out. “In my last training, it was me, Rustam [Khabilov], Adlan [Amagov] and Donald Cerrone. We all fought in the space of three weeks and we all had some prize.”
“Then you look at Firas and Rory McDonald. I remember when MacDonald faced Nate diaz and it was an extremely tight fight with great strikes. The boy was scary. Now, two years have passed since that fight and he has become a guy throwing jabs without even doing it with much volume. It’s horrible, very boring,” he opined.
