Former French full-back takes Jiu-Jitsu European Championship

Lizarazu celebrates with his medal won at the European Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Former football player Bixente Lizarazu won the European Jiu-Jitsu Championship last weekend in Lisbon, as a blue belt. World Champion with the French team in 98, the now 39-year-old fighter was crowned in the senior category (for athletes aged 35 to 40) up to 74kg.

“I felt the same pleasure as the first time I played football”, wrote the former full-back on his blog after winning. Lizarazu also made a point of remembering master Hélio Gracie, who passed away last week in Rio de Janeiro.

PUBLICITY:

“We had the opportunity to see the world's greatest experts in Lisbon. I have full respect for all these champions, especially Hélio Gracie, the founder of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, who passed away a few days ago” recalled the Frenchman.
