Vitor Belfort reveals: 'My fight for the belt will be in a football stadium'

Vitor belfort won the right to be the next challenger for the middleweight belt by knocking out Dan Henderson, on the 9th. But the “Phenomenon” revealed that the duel for the title against Chris Weidman e Anderson Silva – who will face each other at UFC 168, on December 28th – will take place in a football stadium.

Even without a defined opponent yet, Belfort is already talking about the fight for the belt. The athlete from Rio guarantees that the duel against Weidman or a popular rematch against Anderson will be able to compete in Maracanã, the largest stadium in Brazil.

“The fight will be in a football stadium. I'm sure we can fill Maracanã or any other stadium in Brazil. Would be very interesting. I know that the UFC will come up with the best idea possible, because they are very focused on Brazil”, said Belfort, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting.

The Brazilian also spoke of his expectations of returning to compete for a UFC title. Coming from four victories in the middleweight division, Vitor guarantees that he does not create expectations for the fight, but does not hide his confidence for his opportunity.

“I’m just waiting for the winner. I don't create expectations so I don't get frustrated later. I earned the right to fight for the belt, and I will fight whoever wins the fight in December. I just want to go in there and hear: 'The new middleweight champion…'. I have one goal, which is to defeat the champion and win the title.”

Despite Vitor's revelation of an old wish from Dana White, president of the UFC, there is no official confirmation for the duel to be held in a football stadium.
