Military Police accused of killing Leandro Lo had convictions for contempt and aggression against colleagues

Arrested accused of murdering multi-time world jiu-jitsu champion Leandro Lo with a shot to the head in the early hours of last Sunday (7), in a concert hall in the south of São Paulo, military police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo already had other convictions . Last year, the lieutenant was convicted of contempt and assault against colleagues in uniform, committed in 2017.

According to information initially published by “UOL”, Velozo was sentenced in the second instance by the Military Justice Court to nine months in open prison for disrespecting and attacking soldier Flávio Alves Ferreira, also from the Military Police.

The attacks occurred in the early hours of October 27, 2017, at The Week nightclub, in the west zone of São Paulo. Velozo was there celebrating the entry of his cousin Iury Oliveira do Nascimento into the PM. During the early hours of the morning, the young man ended up being attacked by seven people and the lieutenant tried to defend him. The Military Police were called and Flávio Alves Ferreira was one of the first to arrive at the scene.

According to Flávio's testimony, Velozo was nervous, aggressive and smelled of alcohol. When trying to talk to the lieutenant, the soldier was punched in one of his arms and another grazed in the jaw area. Other police vehicles arrived at the scene and Velozo tried to kick his colleagues and disrespected an officer. Moments later, he was restrained, disarmed and taken to the Military Police Hospital, where he underwent a forensic examination.

PUBLICITY:

In September 2020, Velozo was acquitted of charges of assault and harm to the integrity or health of others, but punished with six months in prison for the crime of contempt by the Special Council of Justice. The Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the decision and, in a trial held in May 2021, the lieutenant ended up being convicted in the second instance for the crimes of aggression against an inferior (subordinate) and contempt for an officer.
