In the midst of a streak of three consecutive defeats, something unprecedented in his long career so far, Dan Henderson has found himself in an uncomfortable situation, in which speculation about his dismissal by the UFC is constant. Even in light of the comments, Ultimate CEO Lorenzo Fertitta guarantees that dismissing Hendo is not part of the organization's plans.
"He (Dan Henderson) made it clear that he wants to end his career in the UFC, and I think we made it clear that we want him to end his career within the UFC”, said Fertitta in an interview with the North American channel “FOX Sports 1”. The director also revealed that the fighter plans to act for another two years and then hang up his gloves permanently.
At 43 years of age, Dan Henderson has a record of 29 wins and eleven losses. The veteran was already champion of the extinct PRIDE and Strikeforce. Furthermore, he was the big winner of the UFC 17 middleweight tournament in 1998. In his last fight, on November 9, Hendo suffered the first knockout of his career in his defeat to Vitor Belofort in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 32, in Goiânia (GO).
