Thiago Marreta measured forces against Glover Teixeira on his way to the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.) and, despite having been defeated, he has no regrets towards his compatriot. The proof is that, for him, the Minas Gerais native deserves to have his chance at a rematch after being submitted by Jiri Prochazka in the fifth round, while leading the fight on the judges' scores.
In an exclusive interview with the SUPER FIGHTS on 'YouTube', Marreta states that Glover, in fact, has to get the opportunity to regain his belt for everything he has done in the division. He also considers that the former champion doesn't have much time left in his career due to his age (42 years) and 'thinks it's valid' for Prochazka to concede the second fight.

“Glover (Teixeira) deserves to fight for this belt. Of course, for the category, it's not cool. We would have to wait another round. But, unquestionably, I'm in favor of Glover competing directly because of everything he's been doing in the category and the fight he had against Prochazka. He doesn’t have much time left, so I think it’s valid”, said Marreta.
When asked about Prochazka's power, the Brazilian revealed that he sees gaps in the Czech's game and, despite considering the possible evolution in the Octagon, he believes that the champion will not have a long life with the light heavyweight title.
“I don’t see him (with the belt) for a long time, no. Glover was able to expose many holes and flaws in his game. Of course, everyone can evolve. but in the short term, I believe he will not be able to make these adjustments in time. There are a lot of sharks around him and I don't see him as dominant in the category”, analyzed the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Thiago Marreta also seeks to regain his dream of a new chance at the belt. With one victory in his last five fights, the Brazilian faces Jamahal hill No. UFC Las Vegas 59, an event scheduled to take place next Saturday (6).
