The UFC announced, this Tuesday (19), the clash between the middleweights Ronaldo Jacare and Francis Carmont for the event's first visit to Brazil in 2014, on February 15, in Jaraguá do Sul (SC).
Undefeated in the event, Jacaré will perform for the third consecutive time in his home country. In his first fight, in São Paulo, the former Strikeforce champion submitted Chris Camozzi with a beautiful kata-gatame in the first round; four months later he knocked out Yushin Okami in Belo Horizonte also in the opening minutes of the fight. His performances placed Jacaré in third place in the official UFC rankings.
His opponent, eighth best placed in the same ranking, is also having a good time in the UFC. Undefeated for more than five years, Carmont has accumulated six consecutive victories in the event. In his last fight, in September, the Frenchman interrupted Costas Philippou's positive run by beating the Cypriot in a unanimous decision by the judges.
The night's main fight will be a clash between middleweights Lyoto Machida e Gegard Mousasi. Initially scheduled for February 8th, the event was brought forward by a week.
