After knocking out Derrick Lewis in just 55 seconds UFC 277, the Russian Sergei Pavlovich heard fans and specialized press criticize the referee's interruption, accusing it of being hasty. However, in a statement to the press after last Saturday's event (30), the heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) believes that Dan Miragliotta acted correctly in the decision and said that he saw in the North American's eyes that he would not be able to continue in the confrontation.

“The referee is a professional, and I think he did his job, and he did his job well. I have no doubts about the strike. I think it was a good stoppage. Yes, I saw in his eyes that he was losing, that he was going away a little bit, so I knew I had to keep going and finish it right then and there,” Pavlovich said.
With his eye on a place in the top-10 of the division, the Russian fighter preferred not to project his future now and, after two fights in five months, declared that he wants to rest a little and take a vacation.
“After the fight in London (in March), I practically had no rest. After the fight in London, I had four months to prepare for this fight, and that's what I did. I had no rest, so I need to rest a little and then my team and I will decide what we are going to do next”, said Sergei.
Eleventh in the heavyweight rankings, Pavlovich has been riding on four consecutive victories in the organization. His last defeat came in November 2018, when he was knocked out by the veteran alistair overeem. The Russian athlete has a record of 16 triumphs and only one setback as an MMA professional.
