Dana White confirms that Julianna Peña will undergo facial surgery after losing to Amanda Nunes

The North American, who lost the belt in the main fight of the night, suffered major damage to her forehead and will require surgery

Julianna Pena will not soon forget the defeat against Amanda nunes in the rematch valid for UFC 277, event held last Saturday (30). In a post-event press conference, Ultimate's president, Dana White, stated that the former champion will need to undergo surgery on her face after suffering major cuts in action.

“Julianna (Peña) has a big chunk missing from her forehead. She will see a plastic surgeon now and take some time to heal. She was really hurt tonight. There were five or six knockdowns in the first two rounds. She was pretty hurt. She now needs to take some time off, relax, spend time with her daughter.” White said.

In a rematch valid for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg), Peña fell short of expectations and was unable to impose his pace against Amanda. The American was dominated for five rounds and left with large cuts on her forehead. She lost in a unanimous decision by the judges.
