For UFC president Dana White, it is a matter of time before Rory McDonald decide to face your friend Georges St Pierre in the octagon. The young Canadian has stated several times that he has no interest in fighting for the belt as long as his compatriot is the welterweight champion. White, however, believes that if MacDonald defeats Robbie Lawler at UFC 167, this Saturday, he will once again be on a collision course with GSP.
“MacDonald will fight with Georges St Pierre. I know this, you know this, everyone knows this,” White said at a press conference. “That’s my prediction. I think if he hits Robbie Lawler, he will move out of Georges' house and things will begin to change. I think this fight will be the one that puts him on the path to facing GSP. If he wins, he will look for his own place to live.”
White also bets that St. Pierre, if he wins John hendricks in the same event, will not oppose the confrontation. "I know Georges St Pierre. I know the type of professional he is. When did he stop fighting someone who deserved to fight for the belt? GSP has never been that kind of champion who says 'I don't think this guy deserves to fight me'. He's the type to say 'who's next?'”, he said.
