For the second time, the Ultimate organization rushed to announce the fight between Jon Jones e Glover Teixeira and changed the date of the confrontation, valid for the light heavyweight belt. Less than 24 hours after it was announced that the fight would take place on February 22, at UFC 170, president Dana White stated that Jones would not be able to fight on that date and postponed the duel.
The confirmation was made by the director moments before the UFC 167 press conference, this Thursday (14). White said he learned that the champion would not be able to perform moments before and that, as a result, the title fight would be scheduled for March. The precise date, however, was not revealed by the president.
In October, Ultimate had already announced the fight between Jones and Teixeira as the main fight of UFC 169, an event that precedes the Super Bowl (American football final), on February 1st. However, a few days later, the organization backed off on the announcement and, alleging an error on the part of the public relations team, announced that the match had not yet been scheduled.
