Kristof Midoux, one of the main mentors of Georges St Pierre At the beginning of the Canadian's career in martial arts, he advised his pupil to hang up his gloves if he wins John hendricks convincingly at UFC 167 this weekend.
According to the former fighter, the welterweight champion has nothing left to prove in MMA, and, at 32 years of age, he should start thinking about enjoying life away from high-level competition.
'I told him: after this, it's over. Shine, take that guy out in front of everyone. Shut your critics. If you knock him out, you'll be free and you can happily say it's over,' said Midoux, who met St. Pierre when the Canadian was 16, in an interview with Canadian newspaper La Presse.
According to Midoux, GSP will only be able to have a family if he leaves MMA. 'The time has come for him to think about himself. It's the greatest gift he can give himself. You can't have a family and children and still remain at the highest level of the sport,' he argued. 'Those who don't understand are precisely those who don't need to understand. They are selfish.'
Next Saturday's fight, which will be in Las Vegas (United States), will mark the Canadian's ninth title defense, who has been the champion of the category since his victory against Matt Serra, at UFC 83, in April 2008.

“You can’t have a family and kids and still remain at the highest level of the sport.”
“Those who don’t understand are precisely those who don’t need to understand. They are selfish.”
It seemed to me that the first was a frustrating, but indisputable truth and as for the second, I thought it was great, exactly as I think.
I found the advice very wise and truthful.
