One of the hottest Brazilian prospects today, Caio Borralho celebrates the good moment he's had and says he's not in a rush to reach the top of the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg). In an interview with the podcast 'Trocação Franca', the fighter from Maranhão revealed his desire to fight in the UFC 281, in New York (USA) and said that he wants to reach the elite of the category calmly and without burning out.

“I already have a conversation with my coaches and my manager, Ivan Jatobá, about what I want. I preferred to rest a little now, not tell the UFC that I wanted to fight now. I want to fight there in November or December. I had some serious injuries to my camps, in my spine, so I'm treating it, doing weight training and strengthening, and I think November or December are the best dates. I made a post saying that I wanted to fight in UFC 281 in New York, at Madison Square Garden, which will be a dream come true. I played there, let's see what they say, but we didn't get in touch with anyone matchmakers. We are waiting a little while until I recover from my injuries, strengthening my body, my knee and foot are still a little swollen, but I am improving, getting 100%, and I think that in November or December I will be ready”, said Borralho.

The middleweight spoke about the challenge made to the South African Dricus Du Plessis and surprised by stating that he is in no rush to face the main names in the division.

“I want to make a run at getting guys who are coming off wins. I called the Dricus du Plessis, but he already wrote on Twitter saying no, he said he was aiming for gold and didn't want a guy from the Contender Series. But I told him I'm the Contender guy, I won two fights there in three weeks, I told him I'm the Contender king, but I didn't get an answer, so that's it. Let's see what the UFC will do. There are some names out there that are talking, they even talked about Kelvin Gastelum, but I don't think the UFC will give me a fight like that now. It's not a fight that would be completely sincere on my part, because I've said that I want to build my path little by little. I want to go little by little, maybe get into the top 15, but even if it's not ranked, that's fine with me, because I think the hours spent flying there in the Octagon make a difference, and it's important that we don't burn the cartridges, because we've seen a lot of talented and good guys burning cartridges and not being able to get back on their feet after that”, concluded the Maranhão native.
