Khamzat Chimaev says he doesn't believe 'skinny' Nate Diaz will show up to face him at UFC 279

Unbelievable in the presence of his rival, the Chechen naturalized Swede was willing to fight up to two weight divisions above his usual weight.

Confirmed as an opponent of Nate diaz in the last fight of the North American's contract with Ultimate, Khamzat Shimaev still have doubts that his rival will actually show up to face him in the main fight of the UFC 279, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 10th.

During his participation in “MMA Hour”, a podcast from the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Khamzat Shimaev stated that he did not believe that Nate diaz show up and said he's willing to face the North American up to two weight divisions above his usual weight.

“I still can't believe this guy is going to show up. That skinny kid. Let's see what happens. I'm just waiting for September 10th, no matter who against. If he wants to fight at 83,9 kg, we can do it, just show up. I can fight at 84 or 93 kg, it doesn’t matter,” said Chimaev.

The fight against Chimaev should mark the last appearance of Nate diaz as a UFC athlete, an organization he has worked for since 2007, when he won the fifth season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. For Chimaev, however, this narrative matters little, as does the American's reputation as a “gangster”.

“For me, none of that matters. If they gave me Kamaru Usman, I would fight the same way. The guy fights and fights. He's still dangerous. He fights until the last second and I'm happy he's going to fight me. He is one of the legends. Everyone says he's a gangster. I'll show you who the gangster is. As I said before, we are from Chechnya, we grew up with the war and we ate gangsters for breakfast”, he concluded.
