Less than a month after being severely knocked out by Alex Poatán No. UFC 276, Sean Strickland is willing to return to the octagon. Highlight of the middleweights (up to 83,9kg.) in Ultimate, the 'bad boy' was challenged by Derek Brunson, but there is an important requirement to make the commitment. On social media, the American explained his condition to face the veteran.

“I welcomed the challenge. Let's go. But they said: 'he challenged you, but he wants to wait five to six months (to fight'. (…) I'm not going to wait six months to face you. If you think I'll wait six months, fuck you. (…) I'm not going to wait. I'm trying to buy a Maserati (car). I don't even know what the vehicle is like, I just know it's chic. I'm not going to buy one waiting six months to face Derek Brunson. Let’s make it happen first”, said Strickland, on his Instagram account.

Current number seven in the middleweight rankings, Sean was undefeated in the division until his meeting with Poatan, in UFC 276. Against the Brazilian, the 'bad boy' ended up momentarily walking away from the chance to fight for the belt after being brutalized in the first round of the confrontation.

A veteran of the organization, Brunson has not performed since the stumble he suffered against Jared Cannonier, in February 2022. After the setback, which determined his rival as a title challenger, Derek admitted that he intended to step away from the sport for a while. Today, the 38-year-old fighter occupies fourth place in the group.
