Faced with what is considered one of the biggest challenges of his career, Georges St Pierre has intensified its preparation for the duel against John hendricks at UFC 167. To do so, the welterweight champion recruited Rick Story, the only fighter to have beaten Hendricks, for his combat training. Story himself revealed the invitation, in an interview with the “MMA Junkie” website.
“Firas Zahabi (GSP's coach) really wanted me to train with Georges, and as I'm the only person to win John hendricks, it makes sense that Firas was so persistent,” Story said. The welterweight also revealed his main advice to the champion. “Put him on the defensive, that’s what I emphasized,” he said.
Asked about his prediction for the fight, Story did not rule out a victory for the challenger, but bet on his training partner. “Anyone has a chance when it comes to a fight, especially at such a high level. All it takes is one punch, and Johny has knocked everyone out. But as long as Georges can use all of his weapons and his athleticism, I can really see him winning this fight,” he concluded.
