Night to forget. Former welterweight champion (up to 77kg.), Douglas lima had its performance erased and was canceled by jason jackson in the main fight of Bellator 283, held this Friday (22), in Tacoma (USA). A former highlight of the organization, the Brazilian was the victim of the Jamaican's falls and was controlled for much of the dispute. After five rounds, the athlete was defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.

With the defeat, Douglas finds himself in trouble in the company. Former leader of the under-77kg division, the Brazilian reaches his fourth consecutive stumble. The last positive result for the Goiano player came in October 2019, when he had regained his status as champion in the clash against Rory McDonald.

The pivot of a pragmatic strategy, Jackson did not shine, but was able to control the Brazilian for five rounds. The triumph brings the Jamaican closer to a title fight.

The fight

The confrontation began with Jackson closing the distance and trying to corner the Brazilian close to the bars. Lima tried to prevent his rival from approaching with low kicks. The Goiano continued undermining his opponent's base and then hit Jason with a cross. After almost two minutes, the Jamaican surprised and took the former champion. From below, Lima tried to stop the fight and prevent his opponent's transitions. Towards the final minute, the clash continued without much action from the protagonists. On top, Jackson scored points with attacks, but didn't score any injuries, until the timer ran to zero.

In the second stage, Douglas took the initiative with a low kick. Immediately, Jackson went back to the Brazilian's legs and tried to take him down. The Brazilian tried to resist, but, after about a minute of pressure, he ended up being taken down. Like what happened in the first round, Jason scored, but without force. After just over three minutes, the Jamaican received a 'pedal' and felt the attack. The Goiano man tried to take advantage of the moment, but Jackson managed to recover. In the final seconds, the Jamaican attacked with ground and pound, but there was no more time.

The third round began with Lima launching a new low kick. As in previous rounds, Jackson went for the Brazilian's legs and attempted a takedown. Almost two minutes into the fight, the Brazilian reversed his position, but the Jamaican managed to recover and took him down. From below, Douglas was a hostage to Jason's dominance, even though the opponent wasn't effective with ground and pound. The stage ended with Jackson scoring with blows from top to bottom.

The stage ended with Jackson on top, but without aggression.

The last round began with Douglas taking the initiative with a straight shot. Again, Jason went for the takedown and took his rival to the ground. The clash continued without emotion, but with a clear advantage for the Jamaican. In the final seconds, Jackson struck with ground and pound and did not allow the Tupiniquim to react. As in the previous stages, the assault ended with Jacson on top.
