Gilbert Durinho offers himself as a 'reserve' for the duel between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz

Overcome by Khamzat Shimaev in a three-round “war” in April, Gilbert Durinho is eyeing a possible rematch against the Chechen naturalized Swede. Shortly after the announcement of the main fight of the UFC 279, between Chimaev and Nate diaz, the Brazilian quickly spoke out and made himself available to the organization to serve as a reserve for the duel.

Through social networks, Gilbert Durinho, which has also expressed in the past the desire to face Nate diaz in the octagon, he stated that he can start a training camp to be ready in case something happens to one of the protagonists of the event on September 10th in Las Vegas.

At 36, Gilbert Durinho is third in the welterweight rankings and recently renewed his contract with the UFC, where he has worked since 2014. The Brazilian challenged for the division's belt in 2021, but ended up being knocked out by the champion Kamaru Usman.
