Even with the 'bitter victory' in UFC Long Island, determined by a lesion of Brian ortega, Yair Rodriguez remains relevant in featherweight (up to 65,7kg.). Candidate for a future title fight, the Mexican showed humility when discussing a possible confrontation against the champion Alexander Volkanovsky. In a press conference after the event this Saturday (16), the Mexican spoke about a possible clash.
“He (Volkanovski) is very good. I even said in the press that I didn't respect him, but after his last fight against Max Holloway, he turned out to be incredible. It showed me that I need to evolve. That's what I plan to do. (…) I’m going to show what I’m capable of doing”, he admitted.

Last weekend, Rodriguez didn't get back on the winning track the way he would have liked. Featured in the main fight of UFC Long Island, the athlete emerged victorious after a shoulder injury to Ortega, who was unable to continue in the clash.
With the victory, the athlete recovered from the stumble suffered to Max Holloway at the end of last season. Today, the athlete shares third position in the category with Josh Emmett.
