Vitor belfort is very close to returning to challenge for the UFC middleweight belt. Touted as one of the main names to fight for the title, but having his expectations frustrated a few times, the Brazilian has just one more challenge ahead of him before a new fight for the title. According to UFC president Dana White, if he hits Dan Henderson next Saturday (09), Belfort will face the winner of the rematch between Chris Weidman e Anderson Silva.
“Yes, I would say yes (Vitor is the first in line to face Chris Weidman ou Anderson Silva). Definitely”, said the director in a press conference call this Tuesday (05). “Vitor has to win this fight (against Hendo). This is one of those fights. Vitor is moving up to light heavyweight and will face another guy who can also make the middleweight division. They just decided not to cut weight and fight at 93 kg”, added the director.
Next Saturday (06), in Goiânia (GO), Vitor belfort faces the North American veteran Dan Henderson in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 32. The Brazilian is currently number two in the middleweight rankings, behind only the champion Chris Weidman and compatriot Anderson Silva. Against Hendo, the “Phenomenon” seeks his third consecutive triumph in 2013, after victories over Michael Bisping e Luke Rockhold, also at events held in Brazil.
