The recent and dominant victory of Alexander Volkanovsky about Max Holloway, in the trilogy played in UFC 276, two weeks ago, brought new ingredients to the discussion about the best MMA fighter today. While some think that the featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) has already done enough to take the position, Kamaru Usman He believes the place still belongs to him.

Welterweight champion (up to 77 kg) and leader of the UFC weight-for-pound rankings, the Nigerian explained, in an interview with “ESPN”, why he still considers himself the best fighter in the world.

PUBLICITY:

“Not every pound-for-pound fighter in the world can step into the Octagon three times in the same year and deliver three spectacular performances. Not just spectacular, but huge performances. If you don't believe me, you can ask the organization what the numbers are for the three fights combined. So it's not just being able to get in there and do that, but doing it in a spectacular way,” he explained.

This does not mean, however, that Kamaru Usman belittle the deeds of Alexander Volkanovsky or even your compatriot Israel adesanya, middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) and third place in the weight-for-weight ranking. The welterweight champion stated that he considers himself the best, but with a very small margin between the two.

PUBLICITY:

“I think at the moment I'm the best at doing it, even if it's by a very, very small margin. I love all these guys. Volkanovski is a great guy, I love him. Izzy (Adesanya) too. Those are my guys,” he finished.
