Current champion, Cara de Sapato is injured and is out of the PFL season

With a knee ligament injury, the Brazilian will undergo surgery and be replaced by Josh Silveira in the semi-final of the light heavyweight tournament

The dream of two consecutive PFL championships is over for Antonio Shoe Guy. This Friday (8), the organization announced, through social media, that the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) is out of the semifinal against Omari Akhmedov and, consequently, the season. The Brazilian will be replaced by Josh Silveira.

According to information from the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Shoe Face suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee, will undergo surgery and will be out for the rest of the year.

Shoe Face qualified for the semifinals of PFL 2022 by finishing the regular season in third place, with nine points from a lightning victory over Delan Monte in the debut, in April, and a triumph in the judges' decision against Bruce Souto in June.

substitute for Shoe Face, Joshua Silveira is the son of Conan Silveira, one of the leaders of the American Top Team technical team. At 29 years old, the athlete is undefeated in professional MMA with nine victories and has titles in two divisions in the LFA on his resume. He was chosen as a replacement because he finished the regular season in fifth place, the first outside the qualifying zone for the semifinals.
