Black belt André Galvão, considered one of the beasts of the ADCC in the 77 kg division, is confirmed for this year's event, but will fight in the tournament in 2009 in the higher category. The fighter commented that his focus for 2009 is MMA, and the effort to lose weight in a submission competition could hinder his entire preparation.
“Now I'm focused on fighting MMA, and as I'm going to compete in April, in the USA, I don't want to sacrifice my body by losing weight, as I weigh 86 kg! But competing in submission is good to not lose ground; It's one of the most difficult sports, as I have to be up to date with jiu-jitsu, wrestling, physics and strategy.
