Josh Barnett will undergo WADA drug testing before fighting at UFC 168

Former heavyweight champion, who was caught on doping in 2002, was allowed to fight at UFC 168 under the condition of random tests

Josh barnettJosh Barnett still pays the price for his past. After being caught in a UFC anti-doping test in 2002, the former heavyweight champion lost his title and was away from the organization for a long period. Now, back in Ultimate, the fighter will be the first in the event to be tested by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency).

Barnett applied to the Nevada Athletic Commission, the entity that will sanction UFC 168, to renew his fighting license. But based on his history, he will only be approved to fight in the event if he passes additional doping tests. Furthermore, Marc Ratner, representative of the UFC, stated that he will pay for Josh's exams at WADA at a price of US$20, around R$44 each.

“I know I made mistakes. I take responsibility for them, no matter the situation. I’m 35 years old and I’ll never ask for a license to take hormone replacement therapy,” said the fighter.
