UFC 169, an event scheduled for February 1, 2014, promises to be historic for Brazil. This is because two Brazilians enter the Octagon to defend their titles within the show.  José Aldo, featherweight champion, puts his belt on the line against Ricardo Lamas. Already Renan Barao performs the long-awaited unification of the bantamweight division title against Dominick Cruz. The announcement was made through the organization's official website.

The fight between José Aldo Ricardo Lamas comes after the Brazilian recovers from a broken foot, suffered during his victory against 'Korean zombie' at UFC Rio 4. Aldo is looking for his sixth title defense at the event against a challenger with a record of 13 wins and two losses as a professional.

The long-awaited duel between Dominick Cruz, bantamweight champion, and Renan Barao, owner of the division's interim belt, is one of the most anticipated fighters in the UFC. Without acting since October 2011, Dominick suffered a serious injury in May last year, during his preparation for the fight against Urijah faber. With the linear champion unable to perform, an interim belt was put on the line by Ultimate. Renan Barao won the title in July 2012 and has since defended it twice, against Michael McDonald and Eddie Wineland.

Undefeated since his second fight as a professional, in 2005, the Brazilian has a record of 31 wins, one loss and one fight without result.
