If John Lineker had difficulties with the scales, last Friday (25), inside the octagon the Brazilian took no notice of Phil Harris. In a sensational performance, the fighter from Paraná needed less than three minutes to unleash his striking, achieve two knockdowns and win the duel by technical knockout after knocking down the English athlete for the third time. The duel opened the main card of UFC Fight Night 30, an event held this Saturday afternoon (26), in Manchester, England.
The fight
After failing to make weight in the flyweight division for the third time in the UFC, John Lineker entered the octagon pressured for a good result. But the Brazilian needed just a few seconds to unleash his game and dominate an apathetic Phil Harris.
In the first few moves, Lineker found the distance, connected with a hook and took the Englishman to the ground. But Harris managed to recover and return to striking.
Willing to seek the knockout, 'Mãos de Pedra', as the man from Paraná is known, once again managed a knockdown by landing a sequence of punches. However, again, the rival managed to survive the punishment.
The end of the fight came soon after. Working his blows to the face and body, Lineker landed a punch to the waistline, which knocked Phil Harris down for the third time. Quick on the trigger this time, the Brazilian landed a few more punches on the ground and forced the referee to declare a technical knockout.
“I'm feeling very happy for another knockout. In my fights, it's always a knockout. That’s the way I fight, I have heavy hands and I believe in the power of a knockout,” said John Lineker.
