On the eve of the most important fight of his career, middleweight (up to 83,9kg) Jarred Cannonier believes he is not being respected as a true challenger. In an interview with 'Combate', the North American complained about disrespect from fans and the champion himself Israel adesanya, who has already started talking about a future confrontation against the Brazilian Alex Poatán.

I think so (there is a disregard for my struggle), but, again, I'm not worrying about what people are saying, how they're saying it, and not even (what) Israel says. I'm not even worried about what he's saying. He could be talking about me, he could be talking about Alex Pereira, he could be talking about Santa Claus or Jesus Christ, I don't care, it's not on my mind, it's not something I'm thinking about. Again, I'm just worried about being prepared for this fight. If I’m focused on that, I don’t care about the other things they’re talking about,” Cannonier said.
Number two in the rankings, Cannonier is enjoying a good moment in his career with five wins in his last six fights. His only setback in that span was to the former champion Robert whittaker, in October 2020. The North American has a record of 15 wins and five defeats.
