For many, the trilogy between Alexander Volkanovsky e Max Holloway, for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg), has the weight to define the debate regarding the biggest name in the history of the division. For Holloway, however, this title is not in question in the co-main event of the UFC 276, this Saturday (2).

During the “media day” of UFC 276, last Wednesday (29), Max Holloway stated that the position of best featherweight in UFC history belongs to the Brazilian José Aldo and it can only change hands when the Brazilian's records in the division are broken.

"Not even. Not even. A lot of fans, a lot of people are saying that. We are forgetting to José Aldo? The guy had eight title fights. Eight title fight wins, in fact. I had five title wins and someone can only consider themselves the greatest of all time at featherweight when they break his records. I have five. Being here, against Alex, to get my sixth title win is just the icing on the cake,” said Holloway.

Although both Holloway and Volkanovski have victories over José Aldo on their resume, neither of them is close to reaching the defense numbers of a championship belt. José Aldo. The Brazilian defended the title on seven occasions over more than four years, while the Hawaiian and the Australian have three defenses each.

Although he defends that the duel does not define the greatest penalty of all time, Max Holloway believes that the trilogy against Alexander Volkanovsky has the potential to add a lot to the legacy left by the winner.

"Legacy. This is a legacy fight, 100%. You know where he is in the weight-for-pound ranking, you also know where I am in the weight-for-weight ranking. We are at the top of the rankings and that hasn't happened much in the last decade. All that comes to mind is the fight between Daniel Cormier e Jon Jones. So this is a legacy fight. It's big in every way. People are saying this is the real main fight on the card. That says a lot about this fight”, he concluded.
