After his confrontation against Dominick Cruz being made official, Marlon Vera believes he is close to getting his dream fight for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg). In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the Ecuadorian said that he doesn't see the duel reaching the judges' decision and, comparing it to other important duels in the division, he said that he sees himself fighting for the belt, if he wins in a 'restrained' way.

“I just see it as total destruction. As? When? I don't know which round. Who cares. But he will fall and I will move on. Honestly, since they've already booked all of the top five and they're all great fighters, I really feel like whoever gets the best win is going to skip them all. Because they are all high stakes. Dominick was a dominant champion, (José) Aldo is fighting Merab (Dvalishvili), song yadong (Cory) Sandhagen is fighting,” said Vera.
The Ecuadorian said that the next bantamweight challenger will come from one of the clashes mentioned above and reinforced his focus on beating the former division champion.
“So I feel like whoever performs better, and depending on who fought who in the past, will make it. I don't give a shit what happens in any of these fights. I’m just worried about ripping Dominick’s head off, kicking his ass, finishing him off and then seeing what’s happening”, concluded the Ecuadorian.
Number five in the bantamweight rankings, Marlon is enjoying a good moment in his career with three consecutive victories, over davey grant, Frankie Edgar e Rob font. At 29 years old, the Ecuadorian athlete has recorded 21 wins, seven defeats and one draw as an MMA professional.
