TUF Brasil participant has house destroyed in fire in Amapá

Featherweight John Macapá had his house burned to the ground and is homeless; Fighter may give up fight in December

JOHN-MACAPA-TEIXEIRAFighter John Macapá is experiencing drama in his personal life. The featherweight, who participated in the first season of TUF Brasil in 2012, had his home burnt down in a fire that devastated at least 250 homes in the capital of Amapá. The athlete is among the homeless.

“The fire is over, but it destroyed part of the neighborhood where I live. My house is completely destroyed, I lost everything. I saved some furniture, but I lost everything”, said John, in an interview with the North American website 'MMA Fighting'.

The fighter, who is staying at a friend's house, has a fight scheduled at Shooto Brasil 46, on December 20th, but revealed that he may withdraw from the fight due to the tragedy.

Macapá at UFC

John Macapá's time in the UFC was short. After being approved by the TUF Brazil selection process and winning the eliminatory fight, he fought one of the best fights of the season against Rodrigo Damm, in the quarterfinals, and lost in a split decision by the judges. A large part of the public did not agree with the result.

PUBLICITY:

Due to his good performance, Macapá had the chance to fight at UFC 147, in Belo Horizonte, but was unable to make weight to face Hugo Wolverine. In another highly contested fight, John again lost a split decision from the judges and was released by the organization.
