The Brazilian defeated Magomed Bibulatov and Raulian paiva in his first fights in the organization, in 2019, reaching the top 10 in the flyweight division. In his last four fights, however, Bontorin suffered three defeats and had the only victory, against Matt schnell, changed to “no result” after being caught in an anti-doping test. The athlete escaped a long suspension by proving that he tested positive due to a contaminated supplement.
