On the eve of a fight in the PFL, Anthony Pettis says he doesn't think about retiring: 'I'm still motivated'

At 35, 'Showtime' feels he still has a lot to prove in the sport and wants to reinvent himself in his career

Former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) and a great name in the history of the category, Anthony Pettis He doesn’t think about leaving MMA. At 35 years old, the 'showtime' prepares to face Steven Ray in the fifth edition of the PFL in 2022 and feels he still has a lot to enjoy in the sport.

Asked about a possible retirement, participating in the 'half day', Pettis revealed that he still trains with the best in the world and feels he can prove himself at a high level in the organization. Now, he is trying to reach the semifinals of the tournament towards the prize of US$ 1 million (around R$ 5 million, at current prices).

“I don’t think about retirement. I'm only 35 years old. I did so much at the beginning of my career that people remember me from the beginning of the sport. When this sport became popular and social media appeared, that's when I was trying to become famous. I'm still hungry, motivated and training with some of the best in the world. I know my skill set. I still have a lot more to prove,” said Pettis.

Pettis wins his first victory in his last appearance over Myles Price, in May of this year. Previously, the American had lost to Clay Collard and Raush Manfio in the 2021 season, but now he has six points. Former UFC champion, the American has 25 triumphs and 12 setbacks in his career.
