Even emerging victorious in the first two fights against Max Holloway, MMA fans called for a third clash between the Hawaiian and the featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) Alexander Volkanovsky. At a press conference to promote his next title defense, the Australian promised to 'beat up' the former belt holder and said that a new triumph will be very important for his legacy in the organization.

“I’m going there and I intend to beat him up this time. I really want to do this. Obviously, getting a submission really, you know, having a dominant win. This will definitely help this legacy I want too. This opportunity is here and I will seize it. This will happen and I will still perform well. That’s all that’s going to happen,” said the champion.
Volkanovski praised Holloway and reinforced that a new victory over the former champion will further enhance his legacy in the under-65,7kg division.
“He is a great fighter. I'm going to give him a lot of credit, he's the number one contender, he's done great things in this division, and that's the reason he's getting a trilogy. I think beating him again will really put me in a much better position”, concluded the Australian.
Volkanovski and Holloway have already faced each other on two occasions, in 2019 and 2020, and the Australian beat the former champion both times by judges' decision. The long-awaited trilogy will take place in UFC 276, scheduled for July 02nd. The show will take place at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA).
