New light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), the Czech Jiri Prochazka revealed What was the emotion of being welcomed as a hero in your country, after the conquest. In an interview with MMA Fighting, the executioner of Glover Teixeira admitted that he did not expect such a warm reception and told what it was like to share the joy of his victory with his people.

“I just wanted to share that energy, the energy of victory with them. Because people from the Czech Republic who are watching MMA and understand MMA, they're really energetic people, and they were so, so, so loud. It was fantastic. It was exciting and I’m happy to represent the Czech Republic in the UFC,” said Prochazka.
The new owner of the light heavyweight belt also talked about how it felt to have a UFC champion for MMA fans in his country.
“In the Czech Republic, it was a big deal. It was a big thing because it's the highest peak for MMA fighters, and I won that. And I know it was like a 50-50 fight, but I won that fight and I think people here can be proud of that. That the small Czech Republic now has a champion from the biggest MMA organization in the world”, concluded the Czech.
With a meteoric rise in Ultimate, Prochazka reached the light heavyweight title fight after just two fights. After knocking out Volkan oezdemir e Dominick reyes, the Czech won the right to challenge the then champion Glover Teixeira. On UFC 275, which took place at the beginning of June, Jiri finished Glover Teixeira in the last seconds of the fifth round and reached the 'Olympus' of world MMA.
