New national hero. After overcoming Glover Teixeira and win the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.) in UFC 275, Jiri Prochazka received affection from fans after arriving in his country. In front of a crowd, in Brun, Czech Republic, the fighter displayed the title and received an ovation from the audience present. Last Saturday, the fighter became the first Czech in history to occupy a 'throne' in Ultimate.
“What about that crowd? I return home to the reception of a champion”, wrote Prochazka, in his account on Instagram.
Last weekend, Jiri starred in one of the best fights in the history of the 93kg category. Facing Glover, the Czech had good and bad moments, but achieved a positive result in the final seconds, by taking advantage of an oversight by the Brazilian and submitting the now former champion with a rear-naked choke.
With the victory, Prochazka wins the Ultimate title in his third appearance with the company's gloves. In addition to making history, the Czech extends his undefeated streak to 13 victories.
