The defeat for Josh Emmett No. ufc austin, an event held last Saturday (18), was not well accepted by Calvin kattar. The North American, who lost a split decision from the judges, believes he was wronged by the 'papeletas' and feels he did what was necessary to leave with his arms raised in the main fight of the night.

“I thought they were going to raise my hand at the end. I thought I did enough to win the fight. Josh (Emmett) is a class athlete, tough kid. Congratulations to him and his team. He has a lot of strength (…) Josh presented a lot of problems like a top featherweight would. I thought I did enough to overcome him, but I think the judges saw it differently,” Kattar said in a post-fight interview.
Although he believes he did enough to win, Calvin plans to revisit the fight to better understand what could have gone wrong.
“There wasn’t a point where I thought I could get knocked out, but I thought I was overcoming him. Especially because the fight lasted longer. In the fifth round, I thought I had won. I know he wanted me to stay in the center and hit. I thought I was landing the best shots, but I'm no judge. So it was the way it was, but I thought I did enough to win the fight. I just thought I did enough to defeat a high-caliber opponent. I have to go back, check the 'tape' and see what's going on. I have more questions than anything,” he concluded.
Outperformed in the main fight, Kattar is expected to lose fourth place in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) to this weekend's opponent. The athlete also temporarily moves away from his dream of a title fight. In his career, there are 23 triumphs and six setbacks.
