THE FIGHT

Mary Oliveira started the fight by taking the initiative and, without wasting time, unleashed good combinations on top of Glorinha de Paula. Dictating the pace of the fight, the “Spider Girl” made good use of her wingspan advantage to control combat actions. From halfway through the first round, Glorinha started to balance her actions and move forward. The two tangled up in the clinch and Glorinha threw a good knee on the way out. In a low kick attempt by Glorinha, Maria defended well and put her opponent down. Maria teased with grimaces and a low guard, but received a good blow from Glorinha. In the final stretch, Maria released another good combination, but stopped in her opponent's guard.

In the second round, Glorinha started more active, moving forward, while Maria continued to bet on good boxing combinations. Glorinha connected with a good cross on Maria's face, but the second blow went empty. The São Paulo native controlled the actions of the fight, while the athlete from Baixada Fluminense showed fatigue and showed a sharp drop in the volume of blows compared to the first round. Maria managed to connect a good sequence of punches, but Glorinha quickly applied the takedown and ended the second round on top.

In the third and final round, Mary Oliveira tried to regain control of the fight, but was repelled by counter blows from Glorinha de Paula. Glorinha launched a high kick, answered by a similar blow from Maria. In provocation, Maria licked her gloves before unleashing a combination of jab and straight shot. The volume of Maria's blows increased again, but most of them found Glorinha's guard. The athlete from São Paulo attacked with a takedown, but Maria defended well at first and, subsequently, put her rival down. The athlete from Rio de Janeiro, however, chose to let her rival get up. The two exchanged clean blows in the center of the Octagon. Near the final minute, Mary Oliveira got another takedown, falling over Glorinha de Paula, but again letting the rival get up. With 20 seconds remaining, it was Glorinha who managed the takedown, but had her arm caught by Maria and was unable to strike.
