Cara de Sapato confirms favoritism, beats Bruce Souto in a Brazilian duel and guarantees a place in the PFL semifinals

Ex-UFC plays strategically and beats compatriot by points; he's in the semi-finals of the light heavyweight tournament

With the aim of defending the title won in the previous season, Antonio Shoe Guy confirmed his 'passport' for the semi-finals of the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg.). In a Brazilian duel with Bruce Souto, the man from Paraíba adopted a strategy and won with a unanimous decision from the judges. The fight was valid for the main card of PFL #4 2022, which took place this Friday (17).

With this, the former UFC fighter achieved his fourth consecutive victory – the sixth without losing. Antônio now has a record of 15 triumphs, five setbacks and two unsuccessful fights. In the duel, Shoe Face he was superior and made use of the fences to avoid taking risks against Souto, who managed to repel the approaches and prevented the current champion's progression in jiu-jitsu.

Bruce already feels the 'bitter taste' of the second defeat in a series and does not move on to the next stage. The 'Soldier of Christ', as he is known, has a record of 15 positive results and five negative results in his career in MMA.

The fight

Bruce had the first initiative and was already showing that he was looking to explore knee kicks. Already Shoe Face he kept his distance and applied blows to the waistline to open gaps in his compatriot's striking. Antônio attacked his legs and got the initial takedown, already in half guard. The Paraíba native, however, saw Souto defend his positions well and return to his feet.

In the second round, the exchange became frank in the opening minute, but Shoe Face He used the strategy to attack his legs in search of a grappling fight. Bruce, however, knew how to reject the current champion's attempts and remained standing.

Finally, in the third and final round, Antônio confirmed his victory by playing on the fence and using punches at close range. The former UFC fighter still fell in the final stretch, guaranteeing his triumph and participation in the semi-finals of the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg).
