Thiago Trator is the new owner of the UFC lightweight belt Jungle Fight. In the 59th edition of the show, held this Friday (12), in Rio de Janeiro, the Amapá native finished Geraldo “Luan Santana” with a katagatame at the end of the fight and took the title that had been vacant since Ivan's departure Batman for the UFC.
The result marked Thiago's 17th victory in MMA. He also has four defeats, two draws and one “no contest”.
The fight was hot, disputed from the beginning. In the first round, Trator was better. After getting the takedown, he tried to land the katagatame, but ‘Luan Santana’ managed to make the save.
If in the first round, Geraldo escaped submission, in the third round he didn't make it. After a balanced second round, Trator landed the katagatame in the third round and forced the CM System athlete to give up the fight.
Brazilian dominates Mexican
In the second most important fight of the night, Junior Abedi's victory over Mexican Ivan López. The former flyweight title challenger dominated his rival during the three rounds and left the fighting area with the unanimous decision victory from the judges.
