The main fight of UFC 275, this Saturday (11), could mark the last appearance of Glover Teixeira in the Ultimate Octagon. At 42 years old, the champion avoids pinning his future on the sport, but has already left the possibility of hanging up his gloves up in the air after the duel against Jiri Prochazka, which marks his first attempt to defend the light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) title. Former division champion, Daniel Cormier believes that Brazilians have reasons to rethink their retirement plans.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Daniel Cormier stated that, unlike the past decade, in which Jon Jones and Cormier himself dominated the light heavyweight division, the current scenario is different.

PUBLICITY:

“I'm going to say something and I don't want to disrespect anyone in the division, but I look at the light heavyweights now and, if I'm in, I would keep leading because the reality is you never know what's going to happen. I spoke to Jiri (Prochazka) earlier: from 2009 until 2020, I or Jon Jones we had the belt. It was six or seven years with Jon Jones and four years with me. Nobody else touched the belt. Now they are passing it on to each other. There is none Jon Jones ou Daniel Cormier in this weight division with Glover Teixeira now”, said the former champion.

Daniel Cormier believes that all possible opponents of Glover Teixeira in the division are accessible to the current champion, as no one has the weapons to defend the Brazilian's momentum in the ground fight. DC advised Glover to “keep riding until the wheels fall off.”

PUBLICITY:

“They are talented guys and they can all beat him, but in terms of stylistic marriages, they are all accessible to him because he can take them down and none of them can really handle the pressure from him on top. So if I'm Glover, I keep riding. I'll drive until the wheels fall off. If someone beats me, then I'll leave. But looking at the possible confrontations, there is no real wrestler”, he concluded.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
