In his first challenge before UFC Fight Night 29, Thiago Silva was defeated by the scales. The Brazilian, who had not made weight at the official weigh-in on the afternoon of this Tuesday (08), was unable to reach 93 kg (or 205 pounds) in the light heavyweight division after an hour and was therefore penalized with the loss of 25% of the value of your scholarship.
The amount deducted from Silva goes to his opponent, Matt Hamill, who accepted the fight, despite his opponent's failure to make weight in the division. Furthermore, Thiago cannot compete for any award of the night – best submission, fight or knockout of the event.
Thiago Silva and Matt Hamill face off in the fourth fight of the main card of UFC Fight Night 29, this Wednesday (09), in Barueri, in greater São Paulo.
