When talking about the fight, which still has no set date, between Dominick Cruz e Renan Barao for the definitive belt in the bantamweight category, the fact that the North American has been out of action for almost two years is treated as a great advantage for the Brazilian. But the very Renan Barao disagrees with this and prefers not to think about it, but rather about his own preparation.

“I don't believe that him being stopped will benefit me. I believe in my training and my team. I will be there. Renan has already defended his provisional title twice, against Michael McDonald and Eddie Wineland, after having conquered it in victory over Urijah faber.

Renan also spoke about the chance of moving up to the featherweight category in the future, but highlighted that he would never face his training partner José Aldo, division champion. Aldo promptly made a point of reassuring his friend and stated that he would open the way for him to fight among the featherweights. “If Barão moves up to featherweight, I’ll go to lightweight,” he said.
